Field research: seed harvest at Dyrham Park

Working with Cotswolds Glorious Grasslands, we harvested wildflower seeds from a meadow on the Dyrham Park estate using a combination of mechanical and manual labor. The brush seed harvester (video) is driven through tall grassland that has gone to seed to collect plant material that is further sifted by hand.

This research inspired Pratensis, a kinetic floor-based sculpture. Pratensis is Latin for ‘of a meadow’ and used in countless species botanical names.
